FAQs
How long does Stendra last?
Stendra's effects typically last for up to 6 hours after you take it. The duration can vary slightly from person to person based on factors such as individual metabolism, dosage strength, and overall health.
How does Stendra work?
Stendra contains the active ingredient avanafil, which belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. Stendra works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation, which helps to produce and sustain an erection.
Are there any medications that interact with Stendra?
Be sure to talk to your healthcare provider before starting Stendra. Discuss your medical history and any over-the-counter or prescription medications you may be taking to avoid side effects.
If you are taking nitrates (such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide, nitroprusside), which are typically used to treat chest pain or heart conditions, you should not take Stendra.
Do not take Stendra if you also take the following: guanylate cyclase stimulators (such as riociguat), HIV protease inhibitors (such as ritonavir, indinavir, saquinavir, or atazanavir), and alpha-blockers (such as terazosin, tamsulosin HCl, doxazosin, prazosin, alfuzosin HCl, dutasteride and tamsulosin HCl, or silodosin).
You also should not take Stendra if you take some types of oral antifungal medications, antibiotics, medications that treat high blood pressure, and other treatments for ED.
Can I take Stendra and Viagra together?
You cannot take Stendra with any other medications or treatments for ED. Tell your healthcare provider about all of the medications you take including prescription and nonprescription medications. Stendra may affect the way other medications work or other medications may affect the way Stendra works and cause side effects.
How often can I take Stendra?
Stendra should not be taken more than once in a 24-hour period. Taking more than the recommended dose or exceeding the frequency of use can increase the risk of side effects and may not improve the medication's effectiveness. It's essential to follow your healthcare provider's instructions regarding the frequency of Stendra use and to avoid self-adjusting the dosage or frequency without consulting them first.
Can I take Stendra with alcohol?
It's generally recommended to avoid consuming excessive amounts of alcohol (for example 3 glasses of wine or 3 shots of whiskey) while taking Stendra or any medication for erectile dysfunction. Alcohol can increase the risk of experiencing certain side effects associated with Stendra, such as dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and low blood pressure.
What are the potential side effects of Stendra?
Stendra may cause side effects in some individuals. Not everyone experiences side effects, and they can vary in severity from person to person. Some potential common side effects of Stendra include: headache, flushing, nasal congestion, back pain, sore throat, diarrhea, and nausea. Less common side effects include: dizziness, blurred vision or changes in color vision, muscle pain, indigestion or upset stomach, rash and itching. Serious side effects are rare, but do occur. Contact your doctor if you experience an erection that lasts more than 4 hours, sudden vision or hearing loss, severe dizziness or trouble breathing.
